The 13th annual Rocktober Music and Arts Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 10 am until 7 pm at The Rhythm Museum 1712 North Acadian West. Sponsored by the Buddy Stewart Music Foundation, this family event is free to the public.

This outdoor concert will feature Zydeco Grammy Award Winner Chubby Carrier, along with other artists such as Vince Hutchinson & The Original Heavy Storm Band, Henry Gray Blues Band, Otis Johnson Jazz Trio, Fantastic Volcalaires’s Jesus Train and the New Gideon Baptist Church Mass Choir. The disc jockeys take over for the last hour of the day, D.J. Magic Mike - Denham Springs, D.J. Ed - Baton Rouge and D.J. Fat Sam - Centerville, MS. These artists cover many genres of music including Zydeco, Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, and Gospel.

In addition to these musical acts, the Black Inventor & Scientists Museum will exhibit pieces from their historic collection along with dance and musical performances from Spencer Drum Clinic and Unique and the LA Broadway Dancer. There will also be voter registration, a food drive, health care screening, food vendors, ice cream, balloons, face painting, and much more that is sure to be fun for the whole family.

Be sure to come out and enjoy the longest running signature event in the Mid-City Baton Rouge area. A day all about family unity and community peace. For more information visit www.stewartmusicfoundation.org

How was the re-union and performance by "The 13th Amendment" band left out of this advertisement/article? For a local music organization not to recognize one of (if not)the most influential musical groups in Baton Rouge history is unreal.

Thank you, 13th Amendment for a great performance! We need these legends back again.
